Monday Run-Day in Prospect Park

Monday Run-Day in Prospect Park

How was your Monday? More than 4,700 runners warmed up their week with 3.1 speedy miles in Prospect Park at the second annual NYRR Brooklyn R-U-N 5K. Run over rolling hills on a sultry evening, the race was a great opportunity to kick back after a day at work and enjoy some sweaty camaraderie in a festive summer atmosphere.

The winners were David Kilgore of the New York Athletic Club in 15:56 and Ingrid Wells of the Dashing Whippets Running Team in 17:45. Everyone stayed cool—or attempted to—with misting stations along the course and at the finish, as well as post-race People’s Pops popsicles. Also on offer were lawn games, food trucks, and specials at local Brooklyn hangouts.

We hope to see many of you back for another weeknight 3.1-miler, the NYRR R-U-N 5K in Central Park next Thursday, July 26. That race is sold out, but in August we have spots at the Percy Sutton Harlem 5K Run. Check out our full calendar of races through the end of 2018.
