Four Ways to Kickstart Your Marathon Training at 20 Weeks Out
Summer isn’t even official yet, but we’re already 20 weeks away from the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon. That means it’s time to talk training.
If you’ve committed to November’s 26.2-mile journey through the five boroughs—or another fall marathon—you’ve probably started to put together your training plan, schedule your long runs, and prep for all the summer miles that are ahead of you.
And if you haven’t, now’s a good time to start. We’ve got four training options to help you hit the ground running.
Tap into virtual training
Our 20-week TCS New York City Marathon Training Program kicks off today. Supply some basic info about yourself, and you’ll receive a tailor-made training regimen customized to your fitness, running experience, and lifestyle. Sixteen- and twelve-week programs are also available.
Boost your speed and endurance with a group
If your marathon training plan calls for fartleks or tempo runs, knock out those workouts with a group. There are two eight-week NYRR Group Training sessions left before November 5—one runs July 11 to August 31 and the other from September 5 to October 26.
Schedule your long runs in Central Park
Log up to 20 miles with the support of built-in pacers, training partners, and fluid stations. Register for the TCS New York City Marathon Long Training Run #1 on July 22 and the TCS New York City Marathon Long Training Run #2 on August 13.
Take advantage of these tune-up opportunities
The following races, each a unique experience on its own, can also help get your ready for your fall marathon—register now before they sell out.
- Sunday, September 17: TCS New York City Marathon Tune-Up (18M)
