5 Ways to Get to the Popular® Brooklyn Half Pre-Party Presented by New Balance
The Popular® Brooklyn Half Pre-Party Presented by New Balance isn’t your average bib pickup. Sure, you’ll collect your race number, tech tee, and bag-check bag, but you’ll also have the opportunity to pick up dinner from a food truck, kick back with a drink, listen to live music, and shop for exclusive Popular Brooklyn Half merchandise made by New Balance.
This is an experience like no other, so make an afternoon or an evening of it and get a true taste of Brooklyn—starting with your transportation to Pier 2. Here are five great ways to get to the Pre-Party:
1. Bike the Brooklyn Bridge
May is National Bike Month after all. Visit citibikenyc.com for info on where to unlock a bike and brooklynbridgepark.org for bike path locations. The park offers great views of the Manhattan skyline—it’s the perfect Instagram opportunity.
Please note: Bicycles are not permitted inside the Pre-Party; you will have to lock your bike in a designated location outside of the Pre-Party. Bike storage locations are available on Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park.
2. Stroll through DUMBO
Once you're good on how to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, enjoy all that Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO have to offer. In addition to those skyline views, you’ll stumble upon Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, Grimaldi’s Pizza, Luke’s Lobster, and a whole lot more. Continue your walk on the Squibb Bridge, which connects Brooklyn Heights to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
3. Make It a Shakeout
Yes, you saw this one coming. And yes, we know you’re tapering. That’s why a short run that incorporates a 1.1-mile trek across the Brooklyn Bridge is a perfect shakeout before the half.
Craving a few more miles? Check out this six-mile tour courtesy of NYRR Running Routes that crosses both the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges.
4. Board a Boat
Lived in New York for years and never set foot on a ferry? It’s time to change that. Take the East River route of the NYC Ferry to DUMBO and you'll set foot back on land at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Have we mentioned the views?
5. Play It Safe on the MTA
Keeping it basic? That’s OK. Take the A/C to High Street or the 2/3 to Clark Street. Follow the runner-looking people toward the water—there’s a good chance they’re headed to the Pre-Party.
